»ABOUT ME
A friend once said that music was "his respirator, please don't pull the plug". I think that is a very significant quote about how I feel about music. My burning passion for music production has always been there, but until 1997, the sound engineering aspect didn't really interest me. But this had a drastic change one afternoon in June 1997 (I was 14 years old back then). This afternoon was the first time I had a great, great sound engineering experience. As I turned on Dimmu Borgir's newly released album "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" my view on the music, and "good sound", was changed forever. I listened to the album from beginning to end, twice. I thought it sounded extraordinary good! After that, I started to record music and loved everything about equalizers and reverbs, but specially delays. I had another experience when I, the same year, got Refused brand new record "The Shape Of Punk To Come". This didn't only sound good, I thought (and still think) it's a masterpiece from a mixing aspect. These two records have influenced me alot, and together with my father's support, I have been involved in music, for REAL, ever since.
I have always played. Ever since my father introduced me to his (today a vintage) Slingerland drum kit, which was enourmous (and still is with the 26" bass drum, 6 toms and a bunch of cymbals), I was stuck. I have played drums, guitars, been singing and played every new and "exotic" music instrument I have been introduced to ever since I was a little boy. I have been involved in so many constellations that I have already forgotten about more than half of them. The thing is that I have always been coveted in different ways. People want to work with me, and I am so happy about it! I think people think that I have talent... In Sweden, it is almost against the moral laws to announce that "I AM good", but I think it is important to dare telling oneself so. At the same time, you still need to realize that you might have limitations, though.
Now, 11 years later from my first real music experience, I have much more experience than back then, and I just got my Bachelor`s degree in music- and sound production. During the my first year of studying at Högskolan Dalarna in Falun, Sweden, I got very interested in the art of mastering. During the, in all, three years I have studied music- and sound production I have had the mastering aspect close to heart. And as my degree project I wrote an essay about the subject which you can find below.
Bands I have worked with can be found in the "references"-section in the menu.
